How to have a Happy Birthday

Step 1: Eat Waffles
Make sure you scoop on lots of extra whipping cream.  It's your birthday, after all..

Step 2: Watch Hockey
It's best if the team you're cheering for wins.  Don't forget to wear your lucky hockey charm necklace.  That way, your team will likely come out on top!

Step 3: Watch a Movie
Preferably a movie that you find inspiring.  Like Rocky.  Why do I find that movie inspiring?  Because of the training.  I've been thinking about Rocky a lot lately while I'm running.  "Getting stronger...."

Step 4: Play Hockey
Because playing hockey is better than watching hockey - even if the team you're cheering for wins while you're watching.  Bring cupcakes to share and make sure everyone knows it's your birthday.  That way, they can sing for you.  Everyone knows that hockey players make the best Happy Birthday singers.

Step 5: Eat a Yummy Supper
The best suppers are suppers you don't need to make.  Even better is if you can eat supper right after playing hockey when you're starving hungry.

Step 6: Eat Cake
This step is pretty self explanatory.  Don't forget to make a wish before you blow out the candle!

Step 7: Be Grateful
Spend a moment to thank the people who wished you a happy birthday - answer phone calls, emails, and texts.  Spend a moment to reflect on the year that was and contemplate the year ahead.  Make plans.  Set goals.  Then go to bed, get up, and start enjoying your new year!
